From “Andrea del Sarto”
Ah, but a man’s reach should exceed his grasp,
Or what’s a heaven for?
The possibility I am working on is connecting people to their deeper selves and bringing their vulnerability into the room.
A possibility statement is different from a goal. Goals have their place, but they don’t inspire. A goal is too small a god for a person to build his life around.
A possibility statement, on the other hand, is powerful. It may exceed an individual life. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” is an example of this.
I may not accomplish my possibility in my lifetime, but it is worth reaching for.
The possibility statement starts coming into existence by saying it in public. I could post it on my computer as an inspiration or a reminder, but it only starts living when I declare it out loud in the presence of other people.
When you come in the room, what possibility comes in the room with you? When you are not present, what possibility is absent? What is the possibility you want to work
